SUMMARY:

The client’s principal focus was on ensuring compliance with B-BBEE legislation and obtaining an appropriate B-BBEE level. But to achieve this, they needed a clear understanding of the gaps within their existing B-BBEE compliance and data management processes. Business analysis and project management skills were needed to formalise the business and process requirements, define necessary actions to be taken, and guide the execution of these to achieve an improved B-BBEE Contributor status.


KEY CHALLENGES:

Our client had several challenges that drove the need to improve their B-
BBEE Contributor status/score. These included:

  • Their B-BBEE score was not at the level they needed for their business landscape to grow optimally.
  • They faced the risk of losing their existing clients, who require vendors to have at least a Level 2 B-BBEE score.
  • Without swift action and decisive steps forward, they would soon not be able to service new industries in South Africa.

THE ANALYZE SOLUTION:

We developed an implementation framework that focused on the implementation of required B-BBEE organisational structures. This process included:

  • Bringing our client up to speed on the latest B-BBEE data requirements.
  • Determining a baseline scorecard for them to utilise going forward.
  • Defining strategic initiatives needed to move them to a more desirable score.
  • Implementing, monitoring and reviewing processes, as well as forums to execute the identified initiatives.

These initiatives led to our client soon achieving their desired Level 2 B-BBEE score. While our work was done, the impact of our insights lives on, as we also left the client with a detailed implementation framework to assist them in achieving Level 1 B-BBEE status in the future.
